Position Overview:


We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of K-12 Transportation Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of transportation operations, ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of students to and from school and related activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Transportation: Personally transport students to and from related activities as needed, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times. Maintain a positive and professional demeanor while interacting with students, parents, and school staff. 
  • Fleet Management: Manage a fleet of school buses, vans, or other vehicles used for student transportation. Coordinate vehicle maintenance, repairs, and inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Driver Management: Recruit, train, and supervise bus drivers and transportation staff. Provide ongoing training and support to ensure compliance with safety protocols and driving regulations.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations governing student transportation, including but not limited to vehicle inspections, driver qualifications, and safety procedures.
  • Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for school administrators and transportation staff regarding transportation-related issues. Communicate transportation policies, procedures, and updates effectively to all stakeholders.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the transportation department budget, including expenses related to vehicle maintenance, fuel, staffing, and equipment. Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining a high level of service quality.
  • Emergency Response: Develop and implement emergency response protocols for transportation incidents, including accidents, severe weather, and other emergencies. Coordinate with local authorities and emergency responders as needed.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, transportation management, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in transportation management, preferably in a K-12 educational setting.
Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for operating school buses or willingness to obtain CDL within the first 90 days of employment.
Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations governing student transportation.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and in emergency situations.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and climb stairs for extended periods.
Good vision and hearing to ensure safe operation of vehicles and communication with passengers.
