Job Summary:
The Head Coach is responsible for leading, developing, and managing a high school sports team. This position involves coaching, mentoring student-athletes, and fostering a positive team environment while ensuring adherence to school and league policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coaching & Training: Plan and conduct practices, develop game strategies, and teach fundamental skills relevant to the sport.
- Team Management: Recruit and select team members, monitor their academic progress, and ensure eligibility.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to athletes, emphasizing sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth.
- Game Management: Lead the team during competitions, make real-time decisions, and manage player rotations and strategies.
- Collaboration: Work with assistant coaches, athletic directors, and other staff to enhance the program and address any concerns.
- Program Development: Organize off-season training, conditioning, and skill development programs.
- Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team policies, expectations, and performance.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all school, district, and governing body regulations related to athletics.
- Fundraising & Community Engagement: Participate in fundraising activities and promote the team within the community.
