Description | Tutor Job Description
- Work with the same 2-3 K-8th students, 2-4 times per week for one hour each, after school
- Demonstrate academic best practices for specific subjects and assignments
- Reiterate key concepts in math or literacy, especially those learned in the classroom
- Teach skills to improve academic performance
- Motivate and encourage students to improve their academic performance using effective goal-setting strategies
- Assess the progress of assigned students to ensure effective processes
- Plan creative lessons to engage and educate students
- Promote high standards for academic success and behavior and continually encourage students to meet them
- Be creative and flexible in order to personalize your learning approach for individual students
- Paid training
- A travel stipend will be provided for those who qualify
- Intern pay is $20 per hour. Everyone else is $25 per hour.
Qualifications for Tutor
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly explain challenging concepts, provide instructions and deliver positive and constructive feedback
- Passion, excitement, and theoretical and practical understanding of the subject to be taught
- Patience and compassion for students as they develop skills and improve their performance
- Personal accountability and reliability with scheduled sessions
- Optional certification from accredited tutoring associations such as NTA or CRLA
