Santa Fe South is looking for a dynamic leader to help further the mission of our district by founding a school in South Oklahoma City.
Summary of Responsibilities
As a founding school principal, the Site Leader will contribute to the improvement of student achievement through the development of content knowledge and research-based practices. As part of this, the individual will partner with the Academic Team to implement curriculum, instruction, and assessment aligned to district expectations. The individual will work with Content and Curriculum Coaches (C3s) to develop teachers through professional development, content teams, and coaching. Common coaching activities will include modeling, co-planning, co-teaching, observation, and conferencing with leaders. In addition, the Site Leader will work alongside district leadership to drive student results while keeping lines of sight at various levels.
Drive academic excellence
- Monitor progress toward district academic priorities
- Set and maintain the bar for instructional excellence
- Develop shared leadership beliefs and practices
- Spend the majority of time on instructional leadership
Develop and retain teachers
- Recruit highly qualified staff throughout the year
- Review and provide feedback on lesson plans
- Celebrate high performing teachers
- Conduct weekly walkthroughs with feedback
- Support teachers weekly through coaching
- Facilitate content teams
Develop and retain campus leaders (Assistant Principals, Instructional Coaches, Teacher Leaders, etc)
- Recruit and develop leaders throughout the year
- Monitor progress against goals in one-on-one meetings
- Observe and coach leaders live and in one-on-one meetings
- Practice coaching moves during leadership meetings
Drive campus student persistence
- Monitor student attendance
- Monitor student discipline
Promotes positive school culture and relationship with all stakeholders
- Proactively communicates with students, parents, staff, district leaders, and community
- Support and participates in parent/community activities
- Maintains positive image of the school in the community
- Establish and maintain a healthy work environment for staff
Other Responsibilities
- Inform appropriate district personnel of problems, progress, and plans in the building as they occur
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent, CAO, or Executive Director
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in educational leadership or related field
- Principal certification (eligible or current)
- Demonstrated success as a teacher (at least 3 years)
- Demonstrated success as an instructional leader (at least 1 year)
- Familiarity with DIBELS (PK-1), NWEA MAP (K-12), OSTP/CCRA (3-8, 11), and Oklahoma Academic Standards (PK-12)
- An uncompromising belief that all students can learn
- A relentless work ethic and a high degree of patience to push through difficult challenges
- Ability to build and manage strong relationships with relevant stakeholders, including students, parents, teachers, leaders and community
- Technological proficiency and adaptability
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
Dedication of Time
- 210 days (aligned to district calendar)
- Weekly Schedule
- 70% of time spent on site-level instructional leadership
- 20% of time spent on site-level management
- 10% of time spent on district-level instructional leadership
Reports to Superintendent/CAO and/or Executive Director of Elementary Schools
