Tutor Job Description
Work with the same 2-3 K-8th students, 2-4 times per week for one hour each, after school
Demonstrate academic best practices for specific subjects and assignments
Reiterate key concepts in math or literacy, especially those learned in the classroom
Teach skills to improve academic performance
Motivate and encourage students to improve their academic performance using effective goal-setting strategies
Assess the progress of assigned students to ensure effective processes
Plan creative lessons to engage and educate students
Promote high standards for academic success and behavior and continually encourage students to meet them
Be creative and flexible in order to personalize your learning approach for individual students
Paid training
A travel stipend will be provided for those who qualify
Intern pay is $20 per hour. Everyone else is $25 per hour.
Qualifications for Tutor
Strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly explain challenging concepts, provide instructions and deliver positive and constructive feedback
Passion, excitement, and theoretical and practical understanding of the subject to be taught
Patience and compassion for students as they develop skills and improve their performance
Personal accountability and reliability with scheduled sessions
Optional certification from accredited tutoring associations such as NTA or CRLA
